This morning a class of 2nd graders were busy making all kinds of things when I noticed a group of girls in the collage center were busy with some very large pieces. Before too long, i was realizing that they were actually creating "clothes" and we used this as an opportunity to discuss with the rest of the class the job of being a fashion designer. The girls paraded their new fashions in a little fashion show for their classmates and then the rest of the class enjoyed commenting on their work and asking questions about it. These 2nd graders were pretty excited about Fashion Design
2nd and 3rd grade students have been working to fill our board with 3" Zentangled tiles for Valentine's Day. We have a couple of Zentangle books and a notebook full of our favorite Zentangle patterns. Oh...you don't know what Zentangles are? Well...check out this video for an easy explanation and some project inspiration. Zentangles can be created by anyone! Try this fun game. Here are some of the students' Zentangles: Some students are even making up their own Zentangle patterns!
I love it when kids think like an artist...and this little installation caught my eye yesterday. "Surfer Dude" was created by a third grader who was working in our collage center. I was impressed that Kaedon thought to use the air blowing out of our classroom heater as part of his creation. Check it out: |
